Dr. Chris Kolb is a cultural anthropologist at Spalding University in Louisville, KY, and, since January 2017, a Board Member of Jefferson County Public Schools. JCPS is among the 30 largest school districts in the country with over 100,000 students and 155 schools. Kolb is also a community organizer, Board Member, and former Co-President with CLOUT (Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together). Since 2010, Kolb has helped lead CLOUT’s ongoing work to push JCPS to close the school-to-prison pipeline by implementing whole-school restorative practices and positive behavior interventions and supports as well as revising the student code of acceptable behavior to focus on building positive school culture through proactive methods. JCPS is currently implementing PBIS and RP in 38 schools with plans to expand further.
