Eldridge Gilbert

Eldridge grew up in Rockford, Illinois and graduated from Brown University in 2005 with bachelor’s degrees in Africana Studies and Psychology. Following Brown, El joined Teach For America and worked in Houston for 11 years. During that time he earned his Masters degree in Business Administration from the Jones School of Business at Rice University.

While in Houston, El worked for YES Prep Public Schools for 10 years and served as principal of YES Prep North Forest, a 6th -12th grade campus of 850 students, for 6 years. This spring YES Prep North Forest was ranked 94th best high school in the country by US News and World Report. In addition, he has led teacher training and development for Teach For America and served as Field Advisor/Principal Coach for the Rice Educational Entrepreneurship Program.

After leaving Houston, El worked as the Managing Director of Schools for KIPP Bay Area Public Schools. For two years, he coached, developed, and managed 8 principals. In addition, Eldridge sat on the regional Executive Team for KIPP Bay Area Public Schools and helped determine the vision and direction of the 15 schools in the district. He also led the development of assistant principals for the region and functions as a liaison with the regional Operations, Human Resources, and Community Engagement teams.

Eldridge recently moved to Brooklyn, New York to serve as the Chief Schools Officer for Coney Island Prep Schools. He will also continue to coach principals and lead Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion trainings for the KIPP Foundation.
